Who am I?
Hello
and thanks for visiting my website. I am Graciela Carlyle (nee Miranda). I was born in Argentina,
studied English since I was 7 years old, and after
finishing my High School Bachelorship I took the 5 years'
courses for Translatorship at the Faculty of Human and
Educational Sciences of the National University of La
Plata, obtaining my Degree as National Public
Translator on English Language in December
1987.
I have been working in
Argentina as a part-time freelance translator since before
my graduation, and at the same time working for scientific
medical associations; which together with my family
medical background helped me get a good experience in
medical subjects (see
specialties).
I also co-owned a company
for the organisation of events in La Plata, Argentina,
which was especially focused on scientific meetings,
congresses, symposia, etc., being particularly in charge
of translation/interpreting coordination, hardware and
software handling, and desktop publishing (design and
printing of most of the written material, such as
programmes, invitations, promotional posters, slide
presentations, poster presentations etc).
I moved to England in
2000, and started GC Translations full-time in 2001.
I am married to my lovely
husband, John, who is, apart from an excellent husband, a
brilliant Computer Programmer of Video Games,
and have two beautiful children who are growing
soo fast!!
